Principle of Balance

"He has achieved success who has lived well,
laughed often, worked hard and loved much."

                                                      Emerson

The self-actualizing principle of Balance teaches us that
"Nature always seeks balance and the source of any problem
is invariably found in some imbalance."

Balance entails a constant monitoring of what our
internal deficits, needs and desires are at any point,
recognizing any imbalances, and going in the direction
that seems most likely to correct for those imbalances.
It involves a flexible balancing out between our own needs
and the pressures and responsibilities that tug on us.

The healthiest and happiest people are those who keep balancing out
toward an ever-greater harmony among the different pressures and
needs of their lives, never letting themselves move too far in any direction.
It's what the ancient Greeks called achieving the Golden Mean in life.
