Principle of Choices

"Most people are about as happy
as they make up their minds to be."

                      Abraham Lincoln

The self-actualizing principle of Choices reminds us that
"Everything that happens to us is the result of our choices."
And we are in charge of our choices. Thus we are responsible
for the quality of our life. Directly or indirectly, it's our choices,
one by one, that inevitably determine what we become.

In any choice we face, there are essentially two paths open to us:
We can take the path of least resistance or the path of greater gain.
But the path of least resistance is ultimately the least rewarding,
because it eventually goes downhill.

The path of greater gain may involve some short term pain
of growing, risking, learning new behaviors, but on balance
it may be worth the price in the greater life it opens up for us.

We may have periods where we keep facing the same problems,
But we only stay stuck if we give up and allow that to happen.
We only remain victims in life if we let ourselves be victimized.
The choice is always ours to choose a different life if we want it enough.
