"If you've built castles in the air, your work need not be
lost;
that is where they should be. Now put foundations under them."
Thoreau
Self-actualizers are masters of actualizing their dreams by doing
next steps that help keep them moving forward toward them.
A strategy that you can use to accomplish your dreams is to use
a Cascading Backwards approach, by building a ladder backwards
from goals to plans, from plans to actions, and actions to next steps.
This allows you to translate your goal into a sequence of next steps
by cascading backward from your long term objective to something
you can do right now to help make it happen.
A tool for putting the rungs in your ladder to reach your dreams
is the Constant Question technique, which involves taking a goal
and repeatedly asking yourself, "What would I need to do in order
to accomplish that?" over and over. After each answer, ask the
question again to further translate your goal into concrete steps
. When you have a next step, you have a bottom rung place to start.
Then just follow those rungs, one step at a time, out to the goal.
