"Self-actualizers enjoy their lives more
because they reward themselves more."
Abraham
Maslow
One of the things that becomes clear in observing
highly fulfilled people is how much of their lives
reflects a healthy balancing of work and play.
Self-actualizers constantly reward themselves and
recharge their batteries on times of real happiness.
That's part of the secret why they can work so hard.
The self-actualizing principle of Replenishment says,
"We need to reward our efforts and replenish ourselves."
We can't give out to the world more than we take in,
or our reservoir runs dry as we become depleted and
we have to pump harder and harder for ever-less results.
Thus the more life demands of us, the more important it is
for us to reward ourselves. Especially in hard times,
we need to pay attention to replenishing ourselves.
Reward yourself for your efforts, not just for results.
We need to reward ourselves for the efforts we make
in the right direction before we achieve any success,
in order to keep us going when we feel discouraged.
Life will reward you if you get results.
What activities nourish, reward and replenish you?
Make a list of things you could do to reward yourself
for doing your best on some task or a discipline that
you feel is important for you to keep working on.
