"Actions
and feelings go together, and by regulating the action,
which
is under the control of the will, we regulate the feeling,
which
is not."
W.
James
One
thing that can help us in managing our emotions
is
the principle of Perspective which teaches us that,
"Shifting
our perspective and looking at a thing from
a
different angle will change our feelings about it,"
because
feelings follow behavior.
For
example, with some disliked behavior in ourself,
or
some problem that keeps recurring in our life,
if
we see it as a wake-up call giving us a warning
that
we need to grow stronger and take the action
it
suggests, things will start to feel better because
our
perspective on the situation will have changed,
from
something that's beating us to something we're
fighting
If
we get its message and make the course correction.
we
no longer hate the symptom.
